Dear Toyota Global, please bring the Land Cruiser 70 to the US. Why can't we have anything cool? I want one badly.

This doesn't make sense in a country with peace and roads. This cars strengths aren't something we would value in our way of driving.

But it is aweseome, I'll give you that.

I would Kill for a brand new left hand drive 70 series pickup with a common rail diesel , 5 speed , manual locking hubs and a manual transfer case,

You and me both. I would buy one in a heartbeat!

I actually saw a brand new on for sale on eBay a while back, in San Diego if I remember correctly. I'm not an expert on import laws, but the seller said that there is a loophole which makes it possible for new vehicles to be imported if they are "scrap." So how did he make a brand new truck scrap? He carefully removed all the glass and neatly cut the entire roof off at the base of the a, b, c and d pillars. All parts were included in the sale. Other than the roof, the truck was as new, tags, stickers, plastic wrapping and all. If I had the cash, I would have bought the thing on the spot! Don't talk to me about crash safety, I don't care.
